So my 81 T/A has a couple of wiped lobes at 60K if you can believe that.. It's a 305 /4spd LG4 powertrain all stock except for the dual exhaust and cat delete. Local parts store has the MTC-1 in stock. Well..... it's really the ONLY!! cam in stock in town.. So my question is would this cam play nice with my carb/ computer set up? I'm thinking yes from what I have read, tried searching, but couldn't get a for sure answer for an older carb set up. Most answers refer to newer ecm and non computer carbs. Like to get this thing back on the road if I can save some shipping costs.
So if anybody has used it on an early stock carb set up I would like to know..

If memory serves, that's the old 204/214 .42x/44x cam from the early 70s. The same as the Summit 1102, the older Edelbrock "Performer", etc., all of which were/are that exact grind just with their own logo on the box. It's not original to Melling either. Or to Perfect Circle, or A-Motion, or any of those other vendors that have sold it over all these years.

Should work fine. It's fairly similar, tuning-wise, to the L69 cam, except with a little tighter lobe separation.

 

It will run in a TBI 305 or 350 with the stock chip. It will run just fine with the CCC Q-jet and should give a nice performance boost.

 

Right on guys thanks for the conformation.. I used that cam years ago back in the early 90's in my 72 Camaro and was a good all around cam. Always had good manners.. From what I can tell seems the carbs are a little less fussy when a cam a swap is done.

 

Be sure to do the proper break-in and make sure your oil has the proper amounts of ZDDP.
