Short in Pink distributor wire
84 Transam 350 swapped with a carb.
The pink wire going to the distributor is showing ground at all times. This should only be 12V + at the "run" position so there is obviously a short somewhere.
Does any one know where the other end of this pink wire from the distributor goes? Does it go directly to the ignition switch?
Car was running fine. Did a cam/heads swap and it started up fine. Then I rearranged some of the wiring harness behind the distributor and now this.
The carb has been swapped over to a holley so a lot of plugs in the wiring harness that connected to the old quadrajet are now unused so I tidied up the wiring harness a bit.

Re: Short in Pink distributor wire
Did some more trouble shooting. Pulled the c100 connector out of the fire wall and the short in the pink wire terminal at the distributor went away but the short remains in the pink wire that enters the car at the other half of the c100 connector.
So I went into the car and probed the IGN terminal at the fuse box and discovered a short to ground there as well. This has me stumped.

Thanks. I don't have continuity in the pink wire between the c100 connector and the ignition switch. Not sure why this would happen all of a sudden. Haven't messed around behind the dash in a while.

Re: Short in Pink distributor wire
Found out I do have connectivity between the positive supply at the distributor and the ignition switch, although with high resistance. I think the problem is elsewhere as I also have a short to ground at the positive battery terminal. Starting a new thread in Electrical...
