will a bad TPS keep an engine from starting?
1999 gmc sonoma, died while driving and will not start. fuel pump is pumping, replaced filter and its getting fire.. it fires when i put fuel in the throttle body but not getting fuel on its own.

Try a truck forum. This is for 82-92 f body’s. Even though you can hear the pump check your fuel pressure.

Have someone crank the engine while you look down the throttle body. You should see a "Star" pattern on the throttle body plates if you have a TBI fuel injection system. If so, those injectors are known to go bad. If you know you have spark, and air is pretty much a given, then a good place to go is the fuel pressure and looking at the throttle plates when someone starts the engine. You should see a good spray of fuel in the shape of a star roughly hitting the fuel plates.

4.3 used a poppet injector that’s known to go bad. 2.2 used a standard style injector and was mpfi.

He should get GM's mpfi conversion kit and get rid of those poppets. But he wont read this - he is off to find a sonoma forum.
