I won't be honing - cylinders are in great shape. This will be about a 350 HP build using the stock 99 vortec pistons. What brand and part number rings are you guys using? Regular cast rings will do fine.

Hastings will work fine for your build. I've used them on plenty of builds. Seat quickly and no oil consumption. Check end gaps or they also have file to fit. Don't have part numbers should be easy to find on line.

Thanks - my machinist just sent back a Mitsubishi block with Hastings rings now that you mention it. I hadn't even thought about it. I'm so used to buying pistons and having them come with rings, or buying Japanese rings for Japanese engines that I hadn't even considered Hastings. Normally I use NPR rings but I doubt they have coverage for domestic.

I will gap them of course.

Can anyone confirm that Hastings 4860 is the set I need for stock 99 Vortec pistons?
