Need pointers on replacing oil pan gasket in car
I am in the process of replacing the oil pan gasket on my 1984 L69. I already removed the starter, distributor cap, motor mount bolts and y-pipe from the manifolds. I have lifted the engine on the balancer but still cannot get the oil pan out. wants to hit on the bottom of the bellhousing (5-speed car) when trying to tip it down to remove. What am I doing wrong?

Try rotating the crankshaft, after marking the dizzy spot. Mine was stuck as well on something, rotated the shaft, and it fell out by itself.

The lobes on the camshaft have to be in the up position, or at least ones nearest the front of the engine. They were binding with the pan when I tried to remove mine.
