Fuel Siphon Hose Stuck

So I decided to siphon some old fuel out of my 89 IROC. Got the hose down into the tank from the filler cap and now I can't get it back out. Seems to be stuck on something. Is there some anti siphon valve or something it could be caught on? If so where is that located exactly? Any suggestions?

Re: Fuel Siphon Hose Stuck

The only thing I know that could be hanging up, is the little flipper at the filler hole. Take a little screw driver or piece of wire at the top of the filler hole and keep the flipper from binding. How big of a hose did you use? (Diameter)

Well I got it out after messing around with it for an hour. Seems there is some type of flapper or anti siphon device somewhere in the filler line between the cap and the tank itself. It was not hung up on the t flapper at the cap, it was down below that.

What is the best way to drain the tank aside from siphon fro the filler cap neck?

Pull the filter and power up the pump at the relay and pump it out

That very well could be. I never was very good at siphoning gas, I always paid for mine.

Re: Fuel Siphon Hose Stuck

Punch a hole in the bottom with a screwdriver and hammer.

The filler neck isn't hollow. The only tube small enough to actually make it into the tank will flow so little gas, you'll be there all day. Not to mention that unless you can turn a 90* corner once you're in the tank, you're not going to siphon much more than the top half of the tank. You're chances of hitting the sump are slim and none.
