Steering column

Hey everybody. Say I got a question I'm in the middle of changing the steering column in my 92 Z28 5.7 TPI . I just pulled out the old one and I saw something am not sure what it is or doze . Its a cable that mounts to the ignition switch . If anybody can tell me what it is I would be thankful.
