A couple of months ago I picked up a 1989 Camaro RS with a 305 that had been converted from tbi to an edelbrock 600 cfm carb. The car ran but ran rough so first thing I did was rebuild the carb. It's running much better now and idles perfectly but I'm still having problems with acceleration. If I'm on the gas from a dead stop, it will accelerate fine through first gear, but once it shifts and gets to around 40-50 mph it starts to bog and eventually will stall if I stay on it. If I'm already cruising at around 50 and then try to accelerate much more, the same thing happens. It almost seems like it's not getting enough fuel to keep up with the acceleration but I'm not sure.

Also not sure if this is related but about a week ago I was driving and it completely died on me. Started it back up, drove another 50 yards and it stalled again. It seemed like it was out of fuel, so I got it towed home. A few days later I put 2 gallons of gas in and it started up fine. What's weird about that is when I took it to the gas station later, it was topped off after 5 gallons. I had only put about 7 in since it "ran out of gas" and I know it's got a 15 gallon tank so what could be going on here? Could it be related to my acceleration problems? It does have an aftermarket fuel pump.

Sounds like it's running out of fuel. Check the fuel pressure under load, etc.

sounds like fuel pressure issue, or pump flow rate, or you set the floats to low in the carb and now it will not keep it to the right lvl under load.
