no brake fluid at rear, bad prop valve or clogged lines
no brake fluid at rear, bad prop valve or clogged lines
hi all, my 1987 gta, with rear disk, failed de inspection, no rear breaks, i tried to bleed calipers. no fluid coming out, i took off line, no fluid coming out. if i press brake all with way down and open both lines at master cylinder, i have strong amt of fluid leaving master cylinder. do you think its a bad prop valve or clog lines. i replaced brake fluid was kinda dirty, sucked all fluid out of master and cleaned it and put new fluid in.
thanks for your help in advance

Most likely the rubber line at the rear.
It's like … what … $10? just change it out already. Do you make at least minimum wage? So it cost you like $5 on yer hourly scale to put that up on this site? Then you just WASTED your time posting on here about it; coulda gone to AZ, Poop Boys, Checkerz, Advance, etc. and just fixed it, and it woulda cost you less Big Picture than posting here about it.

theres rubber line on the passenger side and one metal line on driver side that connects directly to the caliber. no fluid on either side

Brake fluid absorbs moisture. At a certain point it becomes saturated. Moisture corrodes steel, like the steel fittings in the rubber brake hoses. The tiny holes where fluid passes through those fittings to the rubber hoses and back out again like to get blocked with age. 30 years later, if you haven't changed the rubber hoses (all of them) they probably are about due.
2 hoses up front, one in the middle above the rear axle, rear disc cars have 1 or 2 more at the caliper(s).
Hit up RockAuto.com, full set of stock replacement hoses shouldn't run more than about $50. Don't worry about the brand name, they're all SunSong Chinese anymore. Order a dozen Dorman copper crush washers while you're at it. The hoses should come with the washers, but they'll probably be the wrong size or missing in at least a couple cases.
Somewhat a moot point with 82-88 iron rear calipers. Even if they can be bled, they probably still won't work.

Not sure, but there's no reason it "needs" to be different. Bolts to the same places at both ends, does the same thing, lines AFAIK are all the same size. Just thimk… GM would have had to do extra work to make it otherwise.
