I bought a spare ecm #1227165 for my 1989 5.7 IROC and in side was a hypertech prom 127 062, does anybody know the application this prom is for........Bob

Junk. Doesn't matter what it's for. Google the part number. Sell it on ebay. Some idiot will buy it.

Why is it junk, or is just out dated. Have had my car 30 years and all stock, picking up spare parts that may go and prom was in ecm. do you know the application , went to hypertech and no luck on the net...

Thanks, looks smaller than the one in that came in the ecm, I know my buddys 91 vette has a smaller prom guess a up date,,,,,,,,,also should I try it..........

All it does is lower the thermostat temp settings (fan on/off points), and maybe adds some timing. You can have one of the many good tuners such as Tuned Performance burn you a custom chip with those changes and more for less than $100 typically. And it will be what YOU want. These off the shelf chips were all the rage maybe 20 years ago. Now that everyone can burn chips they are just old junk.
