Steering Column Wont Unlock
Hello everyone, hoping for some advice. My car's steering column will not unlock so I can start the car.
First, a piece of history on the car. My father bought this car a couple years ago and the shifter did not line up with the P, R,N,D,OD, 2, 1, on the column. Still shifted and started, but didn't line up. The car also had a nasty transmission leak. I fixed the leak by replacing the pan gasket and the gear shift shaft seal. When I got under the car I saw that the end of the gear shift cable was beat to hell and loose with no way to adjust it. So I went ahead and replaced the cable as well. Now the steering column wont unlock so I can start the car. I didn't touch anything on the steering column and that part worked fine before I replaced the cable. Is it possible that the interlock cable needs adjusted now? If so, how do I do that? I really have no idea where to go with this now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
