The only benifit that I'm looking at, and thinking about a conversion myself is the fact that throwing a belt at 6500RPM's SUCKS !!!

Less friction, and less slippage might also be a good benifit.

The con, for me right now is the cost.

I think March Performace whats $500 bucks. It does have all the pullies & brakets though. hmmmm
geeeeessss I still need to dump a bunch of money in a rear end.

Whoa, skip the March kit, unless you're going for show. Get a used setup from tacreationsusa.com for $200-250. No real benefit, but I did it following an engine swap. I can't stand putzing around with various V-belts, especially when the jackasses at the local parts stores always give me the wrong ones! All you need to do to change the serp belt is pull on one bolt--no hockey sticks or broom handles necessary! No can belt whine/squek either. Oh, it also looks much, much better.

As you can tell, I'm a big fan...

The reason I did the swap on my 87 was because I hated the look of the v-belts, they squeeked, and it was a pain to change the belts. Now I can change the belt in five minutes, but it still squeeles a little when cold. Never when warm. I love serpentine belts.

Re: serpentine belt convertion

you can find the complete set up from time to time for $100-$200. i found one on craigslist the other day for $125. the main thing to remember is you need to replace the water pump as well, the serp system uses a reverse rotation pump. the tpi/tbi serp system is the same. dunno if its different on the v-6 though.
