Keeps Shutting Off At Idle
Hey, I own a 1989 Camaro RS with a 305 v8. This morning my car would turn over and wouldnt start so I tried to find the common problems and found that it probably was the distributor cap and the Ignition Module underneath it. I replaced both in the parking lot and the car started right up. But now a common problem I had got worse. Whenever I shift Into Drive my rpms drop and the car shuts off unless I gas it pretty good. Ive had this problem before when sometimes it shuts off when I idle in drive (around 500 rpm) but now it does it every time. I was thinking it could be a vacuum problem because the little line attached to my snorkel and to the intake manifold is completely broke off and when I was messing with some other hoses I pulled one and I could hear pressure being released every time I would pull. This line I pulled was connected in a T shape to the other lines and was the bottom part of the T. It was at the front drivers side of my car and seemed to run to the ball tank thing underneath( I obviously have no idea what its called). Any suggestions would help as this is my daily driver. (P.S. I have tbi)

1. Checked all battery/ground related connections?
2. Fuel Pressure?
3. Checked for spark between cap/coil?
4. ALDL Cabe & Laptop or Scan Tool available?
Also, you stated "I was thinking it could be a vacuum problem because the little line attached to my snorkel and to the intake manifold is completely broke off and when I was messing with some other hoses I pulled one and I could hear pressure being released every time I would pull." If the snorkel to TBI line is cracked cap it at the TBI (*IF* it's a TBI 305), all other vac lines should be replaced. Vac leaks tend to lead to higher idle or lean condition i thought.
Additional Thought: Might want to title the thread more geared towards the No Start condition your troubleshooting so the guru's can chime in!
