somebody help me..tapping noise????
hey everybody,
Ive got a 5.7L 350 v8 Iroc. Ive done alot of work to it and its running great, but the only problem is that just recently there has been this pinging noise. Its definitely metal on metal and sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. When I hit a bump it becomes a really loud metal bang. at first I thought it was possible the exhaust pipes slapping up against the some part of the chasssis but i checked all the clamps and thats not it. does anybody have any ideas???

It's probably something loose back there. Check the fuel tank shield, suspension bushings, shocks. Don't overlook the spare tire/jack, or something loose in the back.
