Lifter preload on new build

OK. First time engine builder here. I'm trying to set the preload on my CompCams Pro Magnum Lifters. The instruction sheet says preload should be set from .002" - .010" hot settings. The "hot settings" threw me off. Not to sound stupid but what do they mean by hot settings? This is a brand new engine all the way around. Do I need to crank the oil pump over to get the lifters full of oil? I am using Pre Magnum Roller rockers with this setup. Thanks for the help.

hot means on an engine that has reached opperating temp, just set the valve lash like you normally do and make any finial adjustments after you get it running.
