Damper belt pulley question
Damper belt pulley question
1987 Formula, 305 engine. I plan on changing my damper belt pulley to a serpentine pulley. My question is, which way does the damper bolt loosen. Clockwise or counterclockwise.
Thanks,

Re: Damper belt pulley question
AFAIK all the bolts on our engines are CW tighten, CCW loosen.
The damper bolt is kinda tight. 60 - 65 ft-lbs when installed, prolly ALOT more to break loose. Fortunately though once broken loose it come out with fingers. I'd suggest locking the crank in place somehow, and using the longest breaker bar & impact socket combo you can come up with, to break it loose. An object wedged in the flex plate or some such works wonders.
