Fuel tank vent valve cap repair (fabrication).

I've been meaning to do something about this situation for a while. I decided to spend a couple hours this morning and make a new bottom cap that bolts to the bracket instead of clipping in - out of 6061 aluminium. And of course cleaned and inspected the guts and top cap - which were all in fine condition on this valve. I made about a 0.005" snap fit with the plastic top hat so once it's pressed below the lip it won't easily come out without some twisting and force applied:

No there's no plans or dimensions for this. I just made it up as I went with careful measurements. If there is enough interest I might have access to a CNC where some of these could be spun up. But if you have a lathe it's not all that hard to do a one off either. I probably have 4 hours into this one and it wouldn't be worth the labor to sell them making them by hand.

Oh that's an interesting option!

One of my business partners has a friend that has a HAAS CNC machining center that is just sitting doing nothing (he is of the "independently wealthy" category and it just sits there in one of his warehouses)..... so I could likely spin some of these up. Cost TBD, Certainly depends on how many I make. Could likely make the whole housing with the power of that unit. But from what I have seen the problem is the lower cap where the tabs break off.
