Vacuum (two hard lines under plenum)

Hey guys, I didn't want to keep asking questions under my current thread as this is a different subject, there are two hard vacuum lines the run under the plenum, one connects to the throttle body, can these be replaced with the appropriate size rubber tubing, or do they need to remain hard lines? I only ask as the are looking brittle.
Thanks
