Valve Covers (TPI)

Hi TGO,

For those of you with more knowledge (so literally anyone lol) is it normal for both valve covers to have this rising protrudence in the center of the cover (see black lip circled in the picture)? It's on both covers, only on the sides facing AWAY from the engine. It seems from my research that this is normal, but I'm just hoping for some added assurance.

I took these off because I was having small oil leaking towards the engine side on both driver's side and passenger side. Car is a 91 GTA, 114k miles with stock 5.7L.TPI.

Are you referring to the bolt guides ? Yes they strengthen the vc and slow for ease of bolt hole alignment.

I meant that black metal lip right at the perimeter of the cover. Not sure we're talking about the same thing? Sorry man I'm bad with terminology. It's really hard to see but that black lip at the cover rises towards the center of the cover.

Thanks for your response man. Both sides had that same lip in the same side (facing engine) so I rolled with the existing covers and I'll see going forward if my small oil leak persists.
