Sanity check?
Building a new engine combination:
TPIS Miniram
TPIS 58mm TB
Comp 280xfi cam
LS7 lifters
AFR 195 heads (?) TBD
Lunati Voodoo 3.75 crank
GM 10105123 bare block (clearanced, oil system mods)
6 in h-beam capscrew rods, brand TBD
forged pistons, brand TBD
EFI Connection 24x system w/cover mount cam sensor
MSD oil pump drive
canton oiling system
Dyno Don headers
3.5/4in exhaust TBD
I'm thinking this setup should be good for well north of 450 fwhp, my main concern is the block, specifically the main caps holding up. Does anyone have real world experience they'd like to share? I'm looking at the dart shp as an alternative but I'm so close to starting the build I don't relish the idea of putting it off until summer if the oe style block will work! Also seeking opinions on afr 195 vs 195 comps vs tfs 195 for my app. Application is mostly street with a few track days at gingerman here in MI per season. Car is 1990 GTA with a t56 and all the normal suspension/brake/tire upgrades. First time doing a sbc to this level, but have plenty of experience with ls-based stuff. Just want to do a moderately strong sbc because that's what the car came with and I like the challenge. I know you can get 470 hp out of a ly6 with a cam swap, lol, just not ready to ls swap the old girl. Maybe next build
thanks in advance!

Re: Sanity check?
That kind of flywheel HP on a modern GM block isn't a big deal. Good hardware and good machining and clearances, you should have little issue.
