Kickdown cable delete?

Through my research, it seems that the kickdown cable and the rest of the system isn't needed anymore on my 92 Camaro since the trans was changed to a th400. From the research, I see that the th400 uses an electronic method instead of the cable and that switch is part of the gas pedal assembly inside the car. Am I correct that I can remove these things? Is there anything I need to be careful about when doing this?

As always, thanks for any help!

Re: Kickdown cable delete?

The thing in the circle is the cruise control regulator. Has nothing whatsoever to do with the transmission. The cable on the throttle linkage that slides on its stud is what hooks the regulator to the engine.

There is/was no "kickdown cable" on a 700. The throttle valve cable however, which it WOULD have had originally, is not present in your photo (it would attach to that stud at the top of the throttle linkage), so you can reasonably assume it is no longer possible to delete it.

Re: Kickdown cable delete?

LOL, ok, i just saw that the cable connects to that cruise control regulator. Well then, I guess I won't be deleting anything! Thank you very much!

Nothing to see here folks, move along...
