350 swap vacuum trouble
350 swap vacuum trouble
So I had a 305 stock motor that locked up on me water in the cylinders and I needed to replace the engine so I was like let me just get a 350 get a little more power out of it so I did that and I'm having the hardest time finding any information online about vacuum diagrams does anybody know what that little gray connector goes to?
Re: 350 swap vacuum trouble
If you are asking about the dual vacuum fitting, it can route to any of a number of things, such as the brake power booster, cruise control servo, EVAP system, etc. What model year vehicle is it?
Re: 350 swap vacuum trouble
It's an 84 trans am that I put a 350 into and I'm currently finishing up on the bigger things and just having to find small vacuum lines

Looks like the MAP sensor line.
Should go into the wiring harness near the dist, then travel toward the driver's side, then emerge near the brake booster and go to the sensor in question.
A brief search of the entire Internet (I know you're only human, but I, being a vastly superior being from another star system, can search you Earthlings' whole network in mere seconds) yielded the following result.

Concentrate on the links on this site (thirdgen.org) that this search uncovers. Don't click on the ads.

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh...
That fitting isn't part of "the engine", as such; it's more, part of "the car". It feeds the cruise control, HVAC motors, etc. There's a certain amount of variability in what it goes to, depending on what options THE CAR has. (as opposed to The Engine) LOTS of cars (and trucks) have something similar; you can probably pick one up at the junkyard without too much effort. Find what lines THE CAR has that need to get vacuum from that point, and go from there.

It's not specific to Firebird. ANY kind of car might have had the same thing. Doesn't even have to be GM to find one that will work. Just start looking under hoods.
