removing a/c and air pump q's
ok i want to remove my a/c and my AIR pump this spring and i was wondering if theres either A) a belt short enough to compensate for the huge loss in length or B) a set of pulleys to take the place of the removed a/c and AIR pulleys.ive seen the tech article for removing one of them,i think it was the AIR pump, but it was for a TPI motor and i also want to take out the a/c,so it doesnt do me much good.anyone know what to do?thanks for any help!
you can remove both easily but you have to leave the ug;y bracket with the tensioner pully on and just reroute the belt...on my car i took the AC compressor and smog pump off but the ugly bracket is still there...you have to have the tensioner pulley because thats what keeps the belt tension correct...on my 88 305TBI without the ac and smog pump pulleys i went from like a 98inch (something like that) to a 82 inch belt...car runs smoother now and its maybe a little faster
