TPS Question??

I have 1988 RS with 2.8 v6. 183000 on clock. Not exactly what it's problem is but this what is happening. If I don't drive it for couple days it will operate fine for 10 /12 miles and
then start acting not getting fuel will "stutter" and buck if try to accelerate even a little bit, some times after 20 miles or so and a stop, it runs fine no issues. If driven regularly no
problem, Changed fuel filter last summer, use injector cleaner every 4th tank of gas. What I think it may have something to do with the TPS the original is still on it. Have anyone else have problem like this?? Any good ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re: TPS Question??

Doesn't sound like a TPS problem. The TPS reads the same hot or cold, 10 miles or 10,000.

Sounds more like fuel delivery. Bad injectors, bad FPR, bad fuel pump, etc. FUEL.

Although it's not impossible that it's the coolant temp sensor; when the ECM begins paying attention to it and using it in its fuel delivery algorithm, it tells it the temp is something COMPETELY out in the ozone. Maybe, it isn't even connected. Might be a good thing to check.

Great place to start would be, what is the fuel pressure WHILE IT'S IN THE ACT OF SCREWING UP. NOT, while it's sitting in the driveway happily idling; WHILE IT'S IN THE ACT OF SCREWING UP. Tape your FP gauge to the windshield and watch it as it goes through the change from running OK to screwing up. Get the FP reading WHILE IT'S IN THE ACT OF SCREWING UP,

In case I forgot to mention: the operative concept here is, WHILE IT'S IN THE ACT OF SCREWING UP, WHILE IT'S IN THE ACT OF SCREWING UP. Gotta catch it in the act of SCREWING UP and see what it's doing wrong.
