Hard to Get Key Out of Ignition
Hard to Get Key Out of Ignition
Posting this because I wonder if something is going wrong. It's not a big deal to spend 15 seconds wiggling the key out, but why?
The key goes in fairly easy, but not exactly silky smooth.
Getting it out is much harder. Have to wiggle it around and slowly work it out.
Spray some silicone or graphite into it? Would that screw something up?
The problem started about 2 years ago. Not getting any worse, but still, why?
88 GTA and the key has the standard chip mounted on it.
Thanks

Re: Hard to Get Key Out of Ignition
I have a spray can of 'Lock-Ease' Graphited Lock Fluid with a snorkel attached. I'll try that. It says it is for all types of locks. Ignition is not a lock (or is it?) , but similar, so I guess it can't hurt.

Re: Hard to Get Key Out of Ignition
Where the key goes, it might as well be a lock; same mechanics (pins, tumbler, cylinder, etc.), just, a different end result.
So yeah, worth a try.
