Hey all, my ignition key broke today, can I use a regular key and make a copy?

Can't upload a pic from my phone, I pushed the broke piece into my ignition and it seems to be working for now, prob gonna get a whole new lock cylinder since I need to fix my high beam switch anyway, it'll give me a reason to tear it apart and fix it

 

just take the broken key to a hardware store.they will make you another.if it was 89 up you would have needed a key with the chip in it.
