Removing Vacuum Ball/Vacuum Ball Hose Size

Does anyone have any tips for removing the vacuum ball? It looks like the top of the bolts are inside of the fender. I don't have to remove the fender to get to it do I?
Also does anyone know the size of the hose that runs from the vacuum ball to that T-connector? Me and the guy a the auto parts store tried a dozen different hoses. Everything is too big or small...

Re: Removing Vacuum Ball/Vacuum Ball Hose Size

I think you access the ball from underneath. Invest in digital calipers (get one that does fractional inches) and you'll never not know a size again. The cheap ones are perfectly good down to 1mm, 1/32", etc. That and a thread pitch gauge are required for working on third gens imo, it seems like GM was on a quest to use every bolt size and thread pitch possible when making these cars.

I'm going to order a pair of digital calipers. I have analog calipers somewhere.

Good news, I did find hose that fits the vacuum ball. Bad news, I don't know what size it is. I found a bunch of it, in an old storage container. I got like 10 feet of it, I brought it like 5+ years ago, when i replaced a bunch of hose under the hood. So sorry to anyone googling it but I don't know the size.

I'll post a picture of my Vacuum ball from under the car tomorrow. By the looks of it, it almost looks like the Charcoal Canister and Vacuum ball are sharing the same bolts. Do I have to remove the charcoal canister to get to it off?
