Tech / General EngineIs your car making a strange sound or won't start? Thinking of adding power with a new combination? Need other technical information or engine specific advice? Don't see another board for your problem? Post it here!
Alright, so I have searched and searched, all the youtube vids and forum threads I can find and I am totally stuck. Long story short, I am LS Swapping my 92 Camaro. Used to be a V6, now its a 5.3. The Engine is in, the Standalone harness is in. All the grounds from the harness are grounded, and when I use my tester light, it lights right up.
My problem: The 92 C207 harness does not have any wires dedicated to the ignition system. Those who have done this know that thin red wire from the LS harness fuse box needs to be soldered to the car's ignition wire. The ignition wires are all in the C100 block. Long story short, can someone please help me and tell me which ignition wire mates to where??
I looked at the pinouts of both harnesses from Austin third gen, and as fas as I can tell, I labelled all the wires that seem important here. Please and thank you.
P.S.: I haved scoured this forum and the LS1te
ch for an answer and I can't find anything. Every LS swap tutorial or post I found deals with the older model harnesses from the 80s
This little red wire is the ignition wire coming from the LS fuse block. Am I supposed to join these two together? And if so, I thought you weren't supposed to fuse two different size wires?

Reason: Additional info
Not only do you need key on power, but you'll also need it to have power while cranking.
I can offer a suggestion, but you may not be the biggest fan of it.
With my swap I modified a stock truck harness and used one of these -relay box link-
In the C100 (at least in my case) you should have a pink w/ black stripe wire that IIRC is a 12ga wire that gives you key on and cranking power.
I took that wire and used it to trigger a relay, which then feeds battery power to multiple fuses for coils, injectors, o2's, and then MAF and other sensors that used the pink power wire. Similar to how a 4th gen is wired.
Basically the way I chose to wire mine is that one wire controls everything, it triggers a main relay, which allows power to my engine fuses, and also allows the other 3 relays to work(a/c comp, fan1 and fan2) since those get a triggered ground from the ECM.
Although...
Looking at the 90-92 C207 pinout, you say it used to be a V6 so your INJ1 and INJ2 should provide key on/cranking power.
I believe you could use those, but I'd still use some combination of relays/fuses.
