Air cleaner senor question.......

on the senor in my air cleaner assemply, where the air filter is, it has two tubes that come out beneth it. One tube goes to my snorkle intake, where does the second one go???? I looked it up in a book and it says that it goes to the base of the carburator, but i cant find a hole where it would go into.

the motor a 71 350 with a different carb from the original. Good this be the reason why i cant find a hole to but the tube in?

in the book it says its the "source of intake manifold vacuum"

thx for any help

Hi,
The old carb should have been the source of vacuum for that. If the new carb doesn't have a place to connect it, then you can use a splitter to use one of the existing vacuum sources for it. You can purchase a vacuum splitter at your local parts store.

I'm gonna be honest here... it's been so long since I've had one of those hooked up that I can't even remember what it's doing there. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but hook it back up and see if it runs better.

The tube running to the snorkel controls a valve that sucks warm air from around the exhaust manifold when the engine is cold to help out with the amount of emissions a car spits out when it's first started. I don't think it really hurts performance, though.

It is there to keep the air the engine is breathing in at about 110 degrees. If you live in a cold climate, it will make the first few minutes of driving a much nicer experience. After the mods in my sig (completed in early November), I had an open element air cleaner on. With the dual snorkel now and that thermovac operating, it is so much nicer. It will also help avoid that off-idle flat spot many carbs are known to produce.

Like they're saying, though, just provide it a manifold vacuum source, and it'll work.
