4th Gen LT1, does the cam have a distributor drive gear?
I’ve come across carburetor conversions on the LT1, but the distributor drive gear thing is fuzzy on my Google searches.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The 1993-1997 LT1/LT4 engines have a gear on the camshaft to drive the distributor/oil pump. The factory LT1/LT4 used a distributor mounted to the front of the engine instead of atop the intake. There was a stub shaft with housing bolted into the lifter valley which had the driven gear to operate the oil pump.

This engine is in a ‘97, so should be able to run a conventional distributor? Thread
