cam swap

I know I should have found the answer in the sticky but i searched it all the way through and didn't find anything answering my question exactly.

A fourth gen LT1 cam will fit in my '90 RS 305 correct? How does this work? doesn't my distributor connect to a gear on the end of my cam shaft? The LT1 doesn't have a distributor in the rear of the engine like mine, how does this work? If it does work, what modifications to the cam do I have to make to allow it to work in my engine? Thanks for any help guys.

Re: cam swap

here is a pic of my LT1 cam, it came out of a '96 F-Body LT1.
you can clearly see the distributor gear on the right end.
