87-92 Cheap Chinese TPI Distributors Remote External Coil Small Cap
Hey all!
Friend from Corvette Forum here
What are your guys thoughts and experiences with the cheap chinese made remote external coil small cap distributors? This one for example:
https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/40006/10002/-1?gclid=Cj0KCQjwlPWgBhDHARIsAH2xdNds92ZYZosISuCEy40mugRtCrjZmxm1JaBjOzhl9IYXO8ymdFxL74saAoRYEALw_wcB
Are these workable for a budget race car?
They get scary cheap, $45 distributor:
https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Distributor-606-02302-606-02257-KA-GM19RED/dp/B074MLL7GK/ref=asc_df_B074MLL7GK/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312026024613&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1340112333342733296&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1022494&hvtargid=pla-567105926586&psc=1
Working on an 1991 L98 Corvette, want to swap on a converted LT1 intake manifold.
To avoid welding and keep the factory fuel lines at the rear I am hoping to use a small cap distributor.
I know I need an adapter harness to go from my 1991 L98 large cap setup harness to an 87-92 Camaro small cap.
Suggestions for a remote coil?
Thanks all!

I bought one like it from ebay but I used an ac delco cap and rotor. Roughly a month after installing it the icm died and I replaced it with an ac delco and had no further issues. This was back in 2020.
Still has the China pick up coil. I have an ac delco to replace it with but since it hasn't presented as an issue yet I've just left it.
