Which lifters

I am building a semi mild 355, hoping for 400hp or so. Dart iron eagle heads with chevy performance LS beehive springs, 9.4 CR and I am using the Comp XR264 roller cam. 5500 rpm max and .5 max lift. My question is which lifters to use. I like the chevy performance but boy are they proud of them and some of what I have read says they're a little noisy. Also been looking at Delphi LS7 and Morel 7717. Obviously I'm well within the rpm range, lift and spring pressure of any of these. What I'm most concerned with is lifetime. This is going to be a driver not a racer getting torn down all of the time. What lifters can I expect the best life out of?

Re: Which lifters

Long life? OEM or a good OEM replacement. It's not like you're going to be spinning the engine over 7000 RPM for extended lengths of time or will have huge spring pressures.

No roller lifter will last forever. They don't wear like a flat tappet lifter but roller bearings and tolerances do wear. A high end lifter will handle more abuse however they should also be removed and inspected more often especially after a lot of road driving. Maybe every 4-5 years.

Is gm performance and chevrolet performance the same? Same part number but a huge price difference.

Re: Which lifters

I wouldn't trust "GM" lifters off anything other than a true GM source. I'd get a set of LS7 lifters off pace, scoggin dickey, etc. My second choice would be the stock replacement Johnson lifters.
