89 Iroc

Need some assistance. I was replacing the idle arm, the one on the passenger side. I went to rock auto and ordered a moog K6249, but when it arrived, it’s not as long as the other. So the steering linkage will be higher. Is there a different part number I’m missing? Any help would be great

Re: 89 Iroc

Not as long? Is that the distance between the pivot centers, or the offset of the arm?

Consider the possibility that the part enclosed in the box is incorrect. I have personally been victim of that more than once, although most often with things like reman alternators, water pumps, etc. There is value in visiting a parts store and comparing the replacement part to the original before clicking "buy now."

Do a search and you'll find a few threads with the same complaint. It appears moog manufactured the arm wrong and refuses to redesign it. The only way to get one with the correct geometry is to track down a delphi or AC Delco.
