$16K for an '89 IROC?
Seems like way too much for an '89? Keep reading:
I'm running out of garage space, so I need to let my recently completed, little project go.
116,000 miles on body, less than 3,000 miles on new drive train.
I have over $11,000 in Chev dealer receipts for new GM crate 5.7, new GM 5 speed and all new leather interior. Installed by Chev dealer.
Over $8,000 on paint, new trim, new lighting, tires and all new weather stripping. This was a 'panel-off' resto that was block sanded resulting in a flawless paint job.

Frenchican, that is an absolutely wonderful restoration. She is one beautiful machine. If i was in the market for another IROC i would say she is certainly worth some some $$. Good luck with the sale.

Re: $16K for an '89 IROC?
Yeah, I hear ya guys. It's shame because the main reason I'm selling her is because of the neighbor's freak'n cat! I have a warehouse at work (where she sits now) but never get to use it unless I leave one of my other cars there.
Ugh, this freak'n cat... It's already cost me over $1,500 in detail work on my vettes and truck. The neighbor knows I wanna kill the thing, which is why I can't.
So, if it doesn't sell, I'll just put it on 4 post lift in the garage and tuck it away untill 2025 when it goes to Barret Jackson.

Re: $16K for an '89 IROC?
So, after I got the vettes I wanted, I looked for a clean late '80s IROC. Man, there is not a whole lot out there for clean 3rd gens. Appearently, you guys don't sell the really good ones. So, I bought the closest thing and went from there. IT definately was a learning experience. I didn't scrimp on anything. I found the original center caps still in the original GM packaging. The guy wanted $52 each. He got it 'cause I couldn't find them anywhere else. He had 8 left, told me they were the last known that existed. Probably full of crap, so I bought 5 just in case. Then I told him "Good luck selling the other 3".

Re: $16K for an '89 IROC?
sounds like my car.
About the same mileage on body and engine. I have a bag of receipts for 10K and that does not include motor rebulld or paint. Every body guy I have talked is really impressed with my paint.
I bought it for $8500
I think your interior is in nice shape and rims. Thats a really nice IROC

I have been lurking here for a while. Had no intention on posting until i actually have a Camaro .. but I had to say man thats a nice IROC!
To bad I only have $3000 CAD saved up so far lol. I have wanted an IROC since i was about 10 (29 now) and if i had 16k USD i would buy it.

It's his car, he can ask what he wants to ask for his car. Quit whining and go to the next ad if you don't like the price. Quit posting your views on his price in HIS ad unless you intend to buy.

you want to kill the neighbours cat, and I want to kill my wifes cat... will it ever end? truely gorgeous car... free bump for ya.
Re: $16K for an '89 IROC?
Criticism? where?
all I've read is good comments on it and it looks worth more than what he's asking. As for the cats, I have the same problem with about a dozen "neighbor" cats. I contacted the county humane society and they told me that the cats were "trespassing" and I could come get a "live catch" trap and catch them and bring them to them at no charge and no trouble from the neighbors.

I was gonna say the same thing. All the comments I've read have been good ones. A few people even said they thought it would bring more than he was asking. I must say, amazing restoration, looks perfect!! Great job!

Re: $16K for an '89 IROC?
Your right about there not being too many really clean 3rd gens floating around. Mine was as close as i could find. 68,000 miles. Near mint interior but it needs a repaint bad. I love your car. Dont lower your price. I think its spot on or even a bit low to the right buyer. Good luck and free bump.
Re: $16K for an '89 IROC?
Doesn't look like you'll be too bad off selling this, seeing as you can have more time enjoying the corvette and viper in the background. But three is still more than two. Who likes cats, anyways?

Frenchy, Who did your seats and door panels? I've never seen a 3rd gen interior that looked that good! Overall, your car is a knockout!

Nothin a little anti-freeze won't fix... Okay.. just kidding.. maybe...
Very nice resto man.. love the combination. another bump
Makes me wanna get another one.. bad..
Re: $16K for an '89 IROC?
amazing looking car topside... very interested to see how far you went underneath. looks great! the only problem i see is to do a factory restoration here in michigan you could pay a shop roughly $15k to have a car turn out like that but it would be very close.. knowing the work it takes i'd say the car is well worth it and for me it would depend on the underside appearance.
good luck in the sale, beautiful car!

Bringin this back from the dead here... but, how much does a "panel off, block sanded resto" cost roughly? 5k? 7-8k?? 10k??!? This job is beyond amazing.. I remember seeing this thread in 2007 saying that i would love to do this one day and that day is coming closer now... (3-4 years later.. haha)
Also, if you take off all those panels, wouldn't all the little clips n stuff break off from being so old and brittle?

Re: $16K for an '89 IROC?
My thoughts exactly....
I have been following this car for awhile.. Very Nice!! I too have a pristine IROC.. As well as my Z06.. Love em both! JMO, nobody will give you $16K for that car.. Until perhaps 2025...

So, if it doesn't sell, I'll just put it on 4 post lift in the garage and tuck it away untill 2025 when it goes to Barret Jackson.
