Overlap, LSA

Guys my remaining days are few, sorry I can't spare hours to make my posts explain things better. Yesterday I mixed T5s and T56s into the same paragraph as loose torque converters, sorry.
I daily drive a Vortec 350, and I thought I would explain my personal cam. It's an old, custom grind from Comp. I've had it a very long time now. It has gone more than 270K miles with no valve train failures.
I always like the idea of square lobes, especially once beehive valve springs became a thing.
But for the sake of more revs and more durability, these are among the least-square lobes, and they have no problem twisting up to 7000 revs in neutral.
The intake lobe is a 3114, the exhaust is a 3112. The lobe separation angle is 115.
So my overlap at 0.050" is negative 5 degrees. This gives a really mild idle, very stealthy, and super easy to tune. Also extremely emissions friendly.
Way back in the late 1980s, when Ford introduced the E303, the first thing I noted about it was that it passed emissions with exactly zero overlap at 0.050", and I've tried that in LT1s then newer LS1s. It holds true. But it's a noticeable idle, which is not my thing.
I've been to races where some guy shows up with a wild cam that really gets my attention. Some of these cars feel strong just standing near them as they try to idle. I get it.
But it's not fun getting pulled over. Ever. For any reason. So looking stock and sounding stock wins.
My custom cam dynoed at 408 HP at 5750 RPM, and 431 ft-lbs at 4250 RPM. It's happy turning 1600 RPM at 60 MPH, and it pulls 18" of idle vacuum. It has returned 26 MPG several times. It has run deep into the thirteens with more aggressive gearing in a somewhat gutted '85 Camaro. It does want at least a 2000 stall, it's not fun with a stock 1400 stall. It spun street 275/40s for blocks with a 2500 stall.
It's not perfect, but if the above sounds good to you, you can call them and order your own, and you won't regret it.
You can't use stock rockers with this cam's 0.510: exhaust lift, the slots in the stock rockers are not long enough.
Back in 2007-2009 I got in a lot of trouble, and I have recently decided it was because I responded to the posts of other guys. So I won't do that anymore. I'll just post what I've learned and let you do as you will.
I don't want to be censored or blocked again, but I must be honorable. So I tell you all now, I have had 6 other user names on here. One of them was Atilla the Fun. I'm not fun. I'm older and tired and a grandfather.
Peace, friends. And burn rubber!
