Won't start after sitting 1-2 yrs. Confirm fuel pump..

Been sitting for 1-2 years, no fuel prep etc was done. I know, I know... but time flies. Won't start now.

Charged battery and have battery booster attached so plenty of juice.

No usual fuel pump noise for a couple seconds when turning key.

No fuel pressure at fuel rail when attached gauge to schrader valve.

Jumping pin G on ALDL, can hear the relay click, but still no pump noise or fuel pressure.

Have 12V at the orange wire at the relay.

Anything else I should check before declaring this a dead fuel pump? Obviously don't want to go through that work unless necessary.

There was very little fuel in tank when it was last parked. Is it possible it just has no fuel to prime (last bit evaporated)? Would I still hear the prime noise even if there is no fuel? Don't want to add fuel just to try and siphon it out again.

The fuel pump was changed in the past I would guess around 2006.

Thanks

Pump should run even with no gas in tank. Might take off gas cap, have someone bounce the car back and forth sideways and listen for the gas sloshing around. Then try it again. Check the fuel pump fuse. I'd guess you'll need a new pump though.

You should be able to hear the pump, even w/no gas in it.

Fuel pump bad or not, (and it probably is,) why would you even try to start it with 2 year old gas? I wouldn't use that stuff in my lawnmower!

Thanks. My understanding based on reading existing posts is that if I have 12V at the orange relay wire, that means the fuel pump fuse is OK. I also could not find the darn thing!

My logic at the time I think was that it would be just enough gas to get me two blocks away to go fill up with nice fresh gas, so would mitigate any of the old gas in there. Did not realize a sitting pump just goes bad! But it seems to be a theme..

Pffft! 2 years? I did this on 5 year old gas! (after I changed the plugged injectors!)
