383 stroker build - 88 Formula

Just a rundown of what this engine has and hoping guys can chime in about power numbers, ideal powerband and thoughts on which parts work great compared to which parts would be better..

880 Vortec block - 4 bolt mains with ARP studs
Scat crank, rods and KB hyper pistons
Dart Pro1 platinum 180 heads
Comp XR276hr cam with valvetrain
Harland sharp 1.6 rockers
First TPI intake setup
FiTech engine management
Hooker shorties with custom Ypipe
Flowmaster catback

That's the nitty gritty of the 383. Any ideas on numbers?

Looks like a solid build. If GM's SP383 is any indication, probably a 430-440 hp setup.

Cam is a little bigger than mine, so should make a little more power than my 383, and mine is an absolute blast to drive.

What transmission and axle ratio?

I'm just hoping I can dial it in with the First and FiTech setup. The trans is a built 700r4, 2600 stall, aluminum driveshaft and 3.27 9 bolt. I'll end up changing the exhaust to something more free flowing and louder. Custom catted Ypipe with a straight through style "muffler". The car will be 99% street. I give that 1% leeway for track days but that's on rare occasion. I just want a tire slayer that I can roll around with the AC on.

DeWitt's alum rad, dual fans, new hoses, new core etc. What fuel pump would you recommend? What fuel pressure? What size injectors? The First intake system is awesome to me but I haven't dabbled with TPI stuff in years.

Re: 383 stroker build - 88 Formula

That all looks pretty cool. I have a friend w a 69 Camaro w that cam in a 327 and a pro Flo efi intake. It's a solid 350 hp setup but likes to rev. You should be up in the 400-425 hp area w that intake. I wonder if the TPI will limit your top end a bit. Your TPI looks to be well modified but idk if it will flow like that cam wants. That cam really starts to wake up at 2800-3k. It revs up to 6k well (at least in his 327 car). His car has 3.23 gears and a power glide. The 3.23 are a little too high but your 700 should do better. I wonder if you'd be better off w 3.55-3.73s. Id run the 3.23s till the torque kills the rear then see what you want! Either way, the torque will be awesome. I'm sure 450-500ftlbs. It's gonna be a fun street car.

Thanks for the insight. I wasn't too clear on whether this engine would work well or which parts were slightly mismatched. It definitely sounds like an asphalt ripper, which I love. The rear axle will eventually see attention with perhaps a gear change. Underneath is all business. Outside appearance I'm trying to keep the stock Formula look.

Yeah, the sleeper look is where it's at. That's what I went for. I like the formula look. No ground effects looks better to me.

w my 450 hp setup I used an edelbrock pro Flo XT w 29lb injectors and a 340 L/hr aeromotive in tank sender setup. It ripped. You're probably in the same ballpark for fuel. The 29lb injectors were almost maxed out at 58psi. But it worked awesome.
