Run these cam bearings?

I’m in the middle of a cam swap right now, how to these cam bearings look? The journals on the cam that I pulled out looked flawless but these bearings look weird to me, I can’t catch a finger nail on anything. Motor carries good oil pressure

Re: Run these cam bearings?

Unless there is some strange color rendering with your camera, those bearings appear to be showing copper which is normally under the tin alloy coating. That would be enough of an indication to at least check the accessible bearings with a bore- or telescope gauge and compare to specs. My guess is that they are opened up a few thou from stock.

Re: Run these cam bearings?

The one looks OK to me. Even has the oil holes in reasonable orientations. Kinda maybe look like somebody took some steel wool to it, like the oldtimerz used to do back in the Civil War dayz, for whyever. Butt being uniform all the way around, even on the top where the cam never touches, it doesn't look like it's worn or damaged, or has any debris in it. I'd run em if I couldn't change em if they all look about the same as that.
