Re: Will this intake fit

Short runner intake should fit easy. It also will gut the torque curve below 7k rpm.

Firebird clearance is usually smallest at front near throttle body. My intake is far more massive than that and it fits under hood.

It's a big brick. My engine sits very tall because I have BMR k-member. It would have more hood clearance if on stock k-member.

Re: Will this intake fit

I know it's not an apples to apples but I have a pro flow xt intake on my sbc. It has a LS style TB. I had my TA hood clearanced when the car was painted. The hood slopes down more than Camaro hoods so it gets pretty tight.

the blower piping is close to the hood but the TB made contact. Prior to the blower I angled the intake pipe down a little for clearance. The last pic is the hood prior to paint. You can see the area cut in the center brace. That's where the TB made contact. It's a tight area.

Re: Will this intake fit

If an intake fits a C5 or C6 Corvette, it will probably fit the Firebird.

I have a base model Firebird hood, it's the worst of all.

Well, I feel like I should warn you that I had no experience.
Everything I did, I did for the first time.... and often having to do it more than once. Just keep that in mind and don't think that I knew what I was doing. LOL! I mean that's real life for most of us.

One of my lessons learned is that planning only takes you so far, and that "seat time" is the best teacher of what the car needs next. Rewards are for doers. And doers often try many things.
