Distributor hold down bolt

I've recently had my engine rebuilt to try and gain a little more performance out of my 305 LB9. I've just checked the based timing and it's set at 0. Stock should be 6 btdc and after mild cam change to Melling 22129 it may need to be 8 or thereabout so I need to adjust the distributor counter clockwise. I can't seem to find the right tool to access the hold down bolt. Sockets are too high in profile and there isn't space to move a wrench in there. Any suggestions on what tool would work here? Appreciate any suggestions.

x2 to what Tuned said.
I couldn't find a Harbor Freight version but O'Reilly's has this.

Re: Distributor hold down bolt

Thanks for the replies. I've got one of these but there is no space to move side to side as various small hoses are there. I'll try it again though.

That's the EGR solenoid. Just take it loose from its bracket.

Re: Distributor hold down bolt

There are varieties of distributor wrenches, not even counting regular crow's feet. I have three different pattern 9/16", one half-inch although I cannot even recall what uses a 5/16 distributor bolt (maybe a NoPar?) and a "universal" one with ends that interchange and can connect in 90° increments, similar to the Hobo Fright one.

I've been using a 9/16 "crows foot" on an extension to reach straight down and turn the clamp bolt.
You can see the crowfoot adapter is on the bolt head. should be able to get about a 1/4 turn or so before you have to reposition the crowfoot for another turn.

Re: Distributor hold down bolt

The 2-piece unit from O'Reilly isn't the best option due to play in between the coupler and end pieces. Scour eBay to find a vintage one.

This, with a 6" wobble extension.
