Hello, i have appx 400 miles on a 86 305tpi complete rebuild. when i start the veh. up on cold start-up, i hear a lifter type noise in the left bank for appx. 5 sec, then i goes away not to return until the next cold start. i think it is a lifter bleeding down. any ideas of fixes besides replacing the lifters? they just have 400 miles on them. thanks for the help, tom

 

You might just try readjusting the valves. That may fix it. If not, it's proabably a bad lifter.

 

i tried adjusting them twice. i was hoping that would fix it. like i said, it only does it for the first 5 sec. then all is quiet. i just hate a fresh rebuild has a ticking noise for the first few seconds. thanks, tom
