A.I.R. removal
I didnt know what category to put this under so I threw it under here. I am intrested in the pros/cons of removing the A.I.R. system on my 305 tbi. I wanted to know the procedure and the modifications I would have to make.
one main reason for me wanting to remove it is not having to buy the drastically more expensive A.I.R. system headers over conventional headers

Well, dont expect any power gains, but it will clean up your engine bay, you'll prolly fail smog tests (lucky my, I am in MI, no tests!). Yes, then you could get 'non street legal' headers...Thats all I can think of right now...

If you're engine's in good running order you should still be able to pass emmissions. Don't expect to feel any power gain, but it does clean up the engine bay nicely. "ohh look, i DO have a passenger-side valve cover!"
I did it for that, and the fact you mentioned that I want headers and a cat w/o those AIR fittings on them. So far i have the cat
, just need to get things to step 2

, just need to get things to step 2 I've just removed mine and it does look tidier. Only one problem how do you get the feeder pipe for the left side out (the one that runs behind the heads) As far as I can feel there is a bracket at the rear of the head on the right side and nothing on the left. Mine is completely loose and slides sideways about 2-3 inches but thats it I cant wait to hear the rattle
