will an 8" harmonic balancer fit on any 350 or does it need to be a specific one. I have a chance to pick up a new one off of a zz4 crate motor for 40 bux. mine is old and one of the screw holes is starting to strip out. and my 350 is a 1979 block with 4 bolt mains. here is a pic of it

 

Make sure the rubber ring is in good shape if you are reusing one. Helicoil the bad bolt hole.

But,.. you could almost get a new balancer for what the helicoil install will cost you.. (if you don't have one).

Make sure you have the right timing cover to go with it... it will hit the welded-on timing tab on the TC that comes stock on our cars. But, the timing tab that goes with the right TC for that balancer, will be in a place that's totally useless (buried under the PS pump) so you won't be able to use a timing light.
