Blue Smoke Gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 305 was blowing blue smoke like a pipe. Thought for sure the motor was dead. I noticed the hose connected to the back of the manifold that went to the transmission was cracked. I took the hose off to replace it. My buddy came over and wanted to hear the car run so i started it without the hose on ....NO SMOKE..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as it turns out the diaphram in the vacuum modulator on the transmission is bad ....the manifold vacuum sucks up tranny fluid and spits it into the manifold............................................the hose was filled with tranny fluid....just thought i would share that ...........it never accured to me...

Great! You found your oil "leak". The only down-side is now you won't have all that extra upper-cylinder lubrication, but the cats and spark plugs should last longer.

That's fairly common with Turbo 350s. We got great deals on several trucks and a couple cars that the owners thought were toasted, but that modulator was the only problem.
