Zippy,

Are you sure that's right? That seems way too cheap. I can't buy a good set of carrier bearings for that. Got the link? It never hurts to have some spare parts ready.

Questions: (now its tech)
Will that fit any 7.5"/7.625" diff? I figure it will, just making sure.
How hard is it going to be for me to find 28 spline axles? I'm 99% sure they are not the same length as F-body axles.
I'd have to assume thats a 3-series carrier? Thats what I am looking for... damn Richmonds are driving me crazy.

I bought a Torsen last year for $75. My 92' came with 28 spline axles, so I didn't need to replace mine.
Forth gen axles won't work, but 90-92 axles will. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to replacement axles, specially if you bought new ones.

It is a 3-series carrier.

What's funny is the set of richmond's I bought for my 86 rear (7.5" ring gear) fit on the newer carrier just fine.

So if I've been following along so far, the Z-T carriers are eighty-five bucks, they are a 3-series for 3.08-3.73 sets, the side gears have 28-spline holes, the '89-'92 Saginaw axles will fit the side gears and the axle housing. Hmmm...

From the SLP site:

An O.E.M. Zexel-Torsen for 7.5" & 7.625" differentials found in most 89-2001 Camaro s & Firebirds (with 28 spline axles). Will also fit 1982-1988 but requires changing to 28 spline axles.

Well thats 2 down.

If it so happens the axles on a G-body are the same length as either the thirdgen or fourthgen F-body, I'm set. Otherwise... hmmmm. Dont really wanna pull an axle to measure the length.

the torsen will fit 3.23 to 3.73. it will also fit a 4.10 with a little machining to the retainer block (i know, i did it). the 7.5 and 7.625 ring gears will both bolt up, the only issue really being the 28 spline axles.

That's correct. I bolted my old ring gear to the new carrier, tossed in the axles from a 92RS with drum brakes, and off we went.

Its a great posi. I have had mine for a year now with 12k miles on it and burned up a set of tires . I opted for the 3.42 gear at the time of install and have been VERY pleased with the performance that gear makes. With my mods if feel quite fast on the butt dyno, but nowhere near as fast as my 99 LS1 Trans Am. But it runs pretty close to a Stock LT1 with A4 and 2.73's. Not bad for an old tired L03. I have to sell a car or two to pay for my new engine for the 91Vert.
