Which plug is which when looking at engine

As you look at the engine from the front of the car, I want to know which the cylinders 5 and 7 are so I can make extra sure the leads don't touch.

Is #1 the first on the drivers side? Is #2 the the first on the passenger side and so on?

Appreciate the help.

Felix

#1 cylinder on all engines is the cylinder that is at the front of the block. On chevy engines it happens to be on the drivers side (LH side). If you look at the heads, the LH head is farther ahead than the RH head. Chev numbers their cylinders odd on the LH and even on the RH.

1-2
3-4
5-6
7-8

Most but not all engines are done in this pattern.

Thanks Stephen, so #5 & 7 are the ones nearest the firewall on the drivers side.
