my rear is dead =[

ok, i did a lot of burnouts with my stock rear, and now it like clicks when i try to take off fast...i think i knocked some teeth off or something, do i need a new rear or could i buy like new gear stuff and a posi kit or something like that and rebuild it?

i'm not sure...its the stock stuff in a 1985 trans am 5.0 liter H.O.

And the spider gears are finished..

Damn 7.5" rears..

your likely going to need a new carrier at the least. it's a shame you aren't closer, i have a 28 spline 3rd gen rear for sale with 3.23 gear. if you pull the cover and only find the carrier broken, i'd just order the slp take out torsen and a set of axles. they will suffice under decent power and be a cheaper way out.

oh, just a thought came about, you may want to look at the differential cover to find whether it's a borg warner or ten bolt gm. you can also find out by listing the rpo' you find on your list under the letter g such as g80, etc. i believe that will be a 9 bolt after thinking about it, but not really sure without some more info.
