What your describing sounds like heatsoak in the starter or a relay going bad. If it is , it will get harder to start over time. Also, sometimes clicking the ignition rapidly will sometimes make it start. The only solution to that once the problem gets bad is to replace the starter. You will probably want to put a heat shield on the new starter if its supposed to have one. Also, check for an exhaust leak down near the starter, that can cause this problem as well, thats what happened to one of my starters. I went through 2 of them before I found out what was going on.
Hopefully its just a relay , they can act up when they get hot too and have the same symptoms.

Same thing used to happen to me. I had an alarm with a trip switch. Every now and then I would go to start my car and there would be nothing. Then eventually there would be power but the alarm reengaged itself (which was bad for me since the thing that turns it off got broken). Turned out the ground to the battery was loose. And all power to the car would be lost if it moved slightly. Tightened it up and never happened again. Another thing that happened was everytime this happened my presets on the radio got reset, does this happen to you?

Check your battery terminals... If they are loose or shift on a bump they will detach and your car won't start.
THe solenoid might be going bad. I used to have to start it with a screwdriver on an old car I had.
good luck.

I had those problems on my 90 IROC With the VATS( vehicle anti theft system). It had ended up being my ignition switch and key. so as soon as those were replaced the problems ended .
