Fans wont kick on. What did I do wrong?

I had to move my fan switch to my driver side head and temp guage to my pass side head. Now my guage works good but my fans wont kick on.i have bigger wire inbetween the origional wire and the new connector. Could that be a problem?

Mkos,

The size of the wire isn't an issue. Make sure the sensor is properly grounded (if it's a non-EFI engine). Depending on how much sealant you may have used to install the sensor, you may have effectively insulated it from the engine ground.

Take the wire running to the switch and ground it, if the fan comes on the wire isn't the problem. To make sure you didn't use too much sealent, use a test light and put one lead on the body of the switch, and the other to a ground. I had a similar problem, it turned out my gauge was off by about 5* and I wasn't brave enought to let the temp get up to the 240* it needs to for the fan to kick on.

BOTH were right and now its fixed, First I turned on the ign, and put a test light to the wire, fans didnt come on. I redid my wire and the fans kicke on when i put the test light to the wire. Then I put the gound to the body of the sensor and touched the wire, no go. I pealed some RTV away so the sensor would be grounded better, touched the wire again and away they blew. Thanks Guys.
